San Diego Musical Theatre is facing an urgent financial challenge. Without immediate support, we will be unable to produce our upcoming production of Rock of Ages. We already have a cast, creatives, designers and a live band waiting in the wings. SDMT has been deeply impacted by rising production costs since the pandemic, the City of San Diego cutting our arts funding, and a decline in available grants. Even with the generosity of our loyal donors, the financial burden has reached an unsustainable level. We are launching an emergency campaign to raise $100,000 to ensure Rock of Ages can take the stage.
SDMT is the only year-round musical theatre company in San Diego producing over 100 Broadway-quality performances annually and providing artistic opportunities for more than 400 local artists each year.
