Robert has been a professional actor for over 30 years, performing in shows on Broadway, National Tours and regional theaters across the country. He is the recipient of two LA Ovation Awards and the San Diego Critics Circle Award for his work in Jekyll and Hyde, The Story of My Life, and La Cage Aux Folles. Robert has been seen on many of the stages in San Diego, including The Globe, San Diego Rep, Moonlight, Starlight, and of course his home away from home, San Diego Musical Theatre. He is now the Theater Director and Advisor for the award- winning Westview Theatre Company at Westview High School.

Bets got her start Vista, Ca. and has been working as a professional actress across the country for the past three decades. She originated the role of Suzy Simpson in the hit show THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES and can be heard on three Wonderette albums as well as the Cast recording of HONKY TONK LAUNDRY Regional; VICTOR VICTORIA, DIRTY BLONDE, THE ANDREWS BROTHERS,NEXT TO NORMAL,FUN HOME, MAMMA MIA, AIDA, SEUSSICAL, TITANIC, BIG FISH, MARY POPPINS, SWEENEY TODD,1776, RAGTIME, ON THE TOWN, EVITA, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS and THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. Ken Prymus started his professional career at the age of 16 doing television appearances and tours, finishing with the Academy Award-winning documentary THE YOUNG AMERICANS at age 20. From then on, Ken appeared in many films, including IN COLD BLOOD, THE MODEL SHOP and M*A*S*H, in which he appeared and sang the song SUICIDE IS PAINLESS in the "Last Supper" scene. After this he appeared as a Johnny Mann Singer in Johnny Mann's Stand Up and Cheer. He has starred in several shows on Broadway, including THE WIZ (The Lion), AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' and 71/2 years of CATS as Old Deuteronomy. He now lives in Las Vegas after many, many, many years living in New York He also just returned from Great Britain, where he performed on the West End and on the tour of THE GENIUS OF RAY CHARLES. After which he opened in the San Diego production of PRINCESS AND THE BLACK-EYED PEA. His face may seem familiar, because of the many TV commercials he's done. Ken finished his second time at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago in the new play "MARY" and this past October, performed in Uncle Jed's Barbershop, where he played Uncle Jed in Denver. Ken is happy in Las Vegas, but sometimes misses New York, and Chicago, and London, and California, but he is looking forward to performing CAT'S (a show and role he loves) at Pentangle Arts in Vermont.

Larry Raben is an actor and director. For SDMT he has directed Sister Act, Young Frankenstein and La Cage Aux Folles. As an actor, he played Leo Bloom in The Producers on Broadway and in Las Vegas. At the Old Globe he played Grandpa Who in How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Ensign Pulver in Mr. Roberts and Sparky in Forever Plaid (which he was in the original NY company and originated Sparky on the West End in London). At Moonlight he played Dr. Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein and directed Titanic, Sunset. Blvd. and Newsies among others. At the Welk he played Patrick in The Andrews Brothers. James Royce Edwards is a San Diego Native and a longtime fan of SDMT. James has performed on Broadway and on the National Tours of Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Pippin, and All Shook Up. Off Broadway he is known for Altar Boyz, Wandas World, and That Bachelorette Show. James is probably best well known for reinventing the roles of Tarzan and Prince Eric for the regional premieres of Disney’s Tarzan and The Little Mermaid. James made his debut for SDMT as Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie and more recently in SDMT’s Pump Up The Volume.

Born and raised in San Diego, California, Emma received her BA in Theatre Arts - Applied Studies with a minor in English from California State University, Fullerton in 2017. She is grateful to have been able to work professionally throughout Southern California since 2014, most recently playing Maggie Winslow in A Chorus Line at the Welk Resort Theatre. Other favorite roles on her resume include Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street (Candlelight Pavilion), Penny Pingleton in Hairspray (San Diego Musical Theatre), Rumpleteazer in CATS (Lewis Family Playhouse), Beth March in Little Women (Chance Theater), and Regina in Rock of Ages (Cygnet Theatre). When she’s not performing, Emma works as an Administrative Assistant for Moonlight Cultural Foundation, teaches tap for Moonlight Youth Theatre, and is pursuing a certificate in Fundraising & Development for Nonprofits from UCSD. Jessica Soza is an actor, singer, director, educator and coach based in San Diego. As a voice specialist, she taught speech and acting at Bethel Conservatory of the Arts and Introduction to Acting for non-majors at California State University, Long Beach. As the Head of Voice and Speech at BCA, she developed curriculum for the B.A. in Acting program and directed their first public performance of Frederick J. Marker's Nora, an adaptation of Ibsen's A Doll’s House using the Active Analysis technique. Her passion and expertise as a professional singer has led her to develop a vocal technique that leads people through breakthroughs in their voice be it singing, speaking or communicating with more freedom and joy. Jessica holds an MFA in Acting & Performance Pedagogy from California State University, Long Beach. Her teacher training is in Meisner from Anna Steers, Michael Chekhov from Hugh O’Gorman, Fitzmaurice Voicework & Knight-Thompson Speechwork from Andrea Caban and Clown from Ezra LeBank. She is a classically trained Soprano having studied with Met Opera coaches Lucy Arner and Ira Siff in New York City, and holds a BA in Music Vocal Performance from California State University, San Bernardino. From 2013-2014, under the direction of Joey McKneeley, and Conductor Donald Chan, Jessica performed Maria in the International Tour of West Side Story, on opera stages in London, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria, Israel and Switzerland, until returning to Southern California to settle. Regionally, she performed Maria with San Diego Musical Theater, and in concert with Battle Creek Symphony in Michigan. Next year, she is scheduled to sing the role of Maria in a West Side Story Concert version with Billings Symphony Orchestra in Montana conducted by Anne Harrigan. In addition to returning to Billings and Battle Creek Symphony in Michigan, to sing the role of Sarah Brown with a BIPOC cast of Guys & Dolls.

David Engel appeared on Broadway in the original La Cage aux Folles, Seussical, and Putting it Together with Carol Burnett. He is most noted for creating the role of Smudge in the original New York production of Forever Plaid, and again in Plaid Tidings and Forever Plaid: The Movie. Mr. Engel has appeared on the SDMT stages in three separate productions of White Christmas, and as Albin in La Cage aux Folles opposite Robert Townsend. Other favorites include starring roles in Crazy for You, The Music Man, Singin' in the Rain, The Producers, Chicago, The Addams Family, Mamma Mia!, and playing opposite the legendary Leslie Caron in Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks and sharing an onscreen romance with RuPaul in the award winning cult musical short film Zombie Prom.

Kiara is a senior at San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. She has been involved in many youth shows throughout San Diego, Including San Diego Junior Theatre, CYT, Off Broadway Theater Company, and SDMT Pre-Professional Program. Kiara appeared in 2 professional shows with SDMT, Hairspray and Crazy for You. She was also cast in the world premiere show, 33 1/3 House of Dreams, at San Diego Repertory Theatre where she played Ronnie Spector. Kiara enjoys hanging with her friends and going to the beach. She looks forward to her next adventure in college!

John Perry (JP) Wishchuk is excited and honored to be a part of SDMT’s concert series. JP was last seen as Ralphie in SDMT’s A Christmas Story. He also played Fletcher in SDMT’s pre-professional production of Freaky Friday. Other regional roles include Nigel in Moonlight Stage Production’s Matilda and a Who family member for three productions of the Globe’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas. His love of theater began in Christian Youth Theater where some of his favorite roles included Michael in Mary Poppins and Jetsom in The Little Mermaid.

Liliana Rodriguez is thrilled to be back with SDMT! She is currently attending Grossmont College studying musical theatre and was born and raised in Chicago. Imahni King-Murillo is thrilled to be making his comeback to SDMT after 4 years. Wyatt Rhinehart is a 17 year old, homeschooled high school senior looking to peruse music and theatre in college. His last appearance on stage was with SDMT earlier this year, where he portrayed The Busboy in She loves me. Now, as his theatre withdrawals overtake him, he finds himself in two socially distanced musical productions: Be More Chill with OBTC, and All Shook Up with Ovation Theatre. He is very thankful for SDMT and their dedication to creating safe, live entertainment! Enjoy!

Chase is so excited to be performing tonight at SDMT Rising Stars! Chase began performing musical theatre his freshman year of high school and has been in love with it ever since. Some of Chase’s favorite theatre credits include: Tom Collins in RENT, Beast in Disney’s Beauty & the Beast, Adam in The Mad Ones, Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Sebastian in The Little Mermaid. Chase is a sophomore attending San Diego State University where he is double majoring in Musical Theatre Performance and Music Performance. Chase is a member of the SDSU Chamber Choir and also a principal vocalist of the SDSU Opera Theatre program. STEVE GUNDERSON was part of the creative team for the original musicals Suds, 33 1/3 House of Dreams, Back To Bacharach & David, Everybody’s Talkin’: The Music of Harry Nilsson, The Artificial Woman (Creative Catalyst Grant), Yours Truly, and others. He is an award-winning composer for theatre and television. As an actor he has played major roles at San Diego Musical Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Old Globe Theatre, Alliance Theatre, Pasadena Playhouse, North Coast Rep, New Village Arts, Diversionary Theatre, Laguna Playhouse, Colony Theatre, La Mirada Theatre, Rubicon Theatre, Second Stage Theatre, Equity Library Theatre, Stage West (Toronto and Calgary) and the National Tour of The Grapes Of Wrath. On television he voiced various roles on King of the Hill and Beavis and Butthead.

Janaya Mahealani Jones is so happy to be returning to SDMT after her performances as Dee in Pump up the Volume: A 90s Palooza! and Doris Walker in the original cast of Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play. This year she has been keeping busy from home with Pixel Playhouse/After Hours Theatre in the virtual productions of Hocus Pocus: A Musical Cocktail Experience and Definitely Not Clue: An Interactive Musical Mystery. She Also works at Disney's California adventure and can be seen as Queen Elsa of Arendelle at Frozen: Live at the Hyperion, Dime in the Five and Dime Jazz Band, and DJ Dee Jay at the Disney Junior Dance Party. Janaya works regionally in theatres such as Moonlight Ampitherate, Lambs Players, Rockwell Table and Stage, and Performance Riverside. She is most known for her star turn as Esmeralda in Moonlight Ampitheatre's Hunchback of Notre Dame as well as Mel in the 2019 revival of Mixtape respectively. Other credits include; Mamma Mia (Tanya) at Moonlight Stage Prod., Welk Theatre and Lyric Theatre of OKC, A Christmas Carol (Mrs. Fezziwig) at The Welk, 42nd St (Dorothy Brock), Tommy (Mrs. Walker), Chicago (Roxie) and A Chorus Line (Sheila) and the day before theatres closed this year, 1 preview of La Cage (Mme.Dindon/Mme.Renaud), at Cygnet. Film credits include; Night Screams (Brenda) and SD 48HR Film project, Sound Bites (Barbara). Barbara is also a private dance/acting coach, choreographer, director and dance teacher. She is currently a tap teacher for SDMT Academy and Artifex in Motion.

Leonard has worked as a professional singer, musician, actor, and composer in San Diego for many years and has been a familiar face in many Lamb's Players Theatre productions including San Diego's longest running original musical MIXTAPE, Hello Dolly, Godspell, Boomers, Festival of Christmas, and Pump Boys and Dinettes. Leonard was also in the cast of Pump Up the Volume at SDMT in 2017. Recently, Leonard was a part of the acclaimed and award-nominated play, Father Comes Home From The Wars with Intrepid Theatre. Leonard holds the first master's degree in jazz studies from SDSU as a vocalist. Leonard is currently working with two-time grammy winning producer, Kamau Kenyatta (Gregory Porter), on a new recording project. On August 8, 2017, Leonard, along with his group, attempted and broke the Guinness world record for the most concerts in 24 hours (70)... all to garner attention for his new nonprofit, Jazz Vocal Workshop.
