5 Ways To Celebrate Christmas In San Diego

 In Blog, San Diego Entertainment

We may be surrounded by palm trees, ocean views, and perpetually warm weather, but we can still enjoy a festive holiday season — just without the snow. When it comes to San Diego entertainment, there is always something happening; whether you’re looking for a date night, a family outing, or a night out on the town with your friends, there’s a San Diego attraction for every person, budget, and adventure level.

In today’s blog, we’re going to highlight five of the best ways to celebrate Christmas in San Diego. Here at San Diego Musical Theatre, we’re pleased to be presenting “Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play” Nov. 23–Dec. 23. Buy Broadway tickets now, and read on to see if anything else catches your fancy this holiday season.

San Diego Bay Parade of Lights

Put on by the boating community, this San Diego attraction is in its 47th year — with no signs of stopping. On Dec. 9 and 16, participants can watch the holiday boat parade from the shores. More than 100,000 residents and visitors watch each year as about 80 decorated boats move past.

Gaslamp Holiday Pet Parade

The Vet + Pet West Gaslamp Holiday Pet Parade is back and better than ever. Your furry, feathered, and scaled friends can all enjoy showing off their costumes during this festive event; and you can watch the procession and take pictures to your heart’s content. The parade begins at 2 p.m. on Dec. 16 — get there sooner to have your own pet in this San Diego attraction.

“The Miracle on 34th Street” at San Diego Musical Theatre

It’s the classic Christmas tale we all know and love, and you can see this musical in San Diego this winter! Get tickets for this San Diego Broadway show from Nov. 23 to Dec. 23. Performed in the historic Horton Grand Theatre, it’ll be a night you and your family remember for years to come. Make sure to read the history of “Miracle on 34th Street” before you find your way to San Diego Musical Theatre.

Skating By The Sea® at Hotel Del Coronado at Hotel Del Coronado

San Diego entertainment during Christmas looks something like this: ice skating by the ocean, surrounded by palm trees, sunny, blue skies, and an ocean mist. Skating by the Sea® is returning to Hotel Del Coronado Nov. 22–Jan. 1, and you can even reserve your own rink-side lounge with plush seating, a fire pit, and food and beverage service.

December Nights at Balboa Park

San Diego attractions during the holiday season don’t get much better than Balboa Park December Nights. In its 41st year, this two-night event features entertainment, food and drinks, and shopping galore, all in the lovely, historic, Christmas-decorated Balboa Park. There will be light displays, choirs, bands, dancers, amazing food, and much more.

Whether you’re a local or a tourist looking for San Diego entertainment during the holidays, we hope this list helps. Visit San Diego Musical Theatre in the Gaslamp Quarter for a fun-filled evening of Kris Kringle with this year’s production of “Miracle on 34th Street.”
