Announcing SDMT Academy’s Fall Semester!
We are so excited to officially announce our upcoming fall semester, with many of your favorite classes coming back and a few brand new classes being introduced! Our classes are designed to cover all three major performing elements of musical theatre (singing/acting/dancing) Keep reading below to find out about the amazing classes we have lined up for our fall semester, and then sign up to join the fun today!

Musical Theatre Explorers (Grades K-2)
Sundays 9:30-10:45 | Aug 23 – Sept 27
A weekly class for grades K-2 where students will explore song, dance, and storytelling through imagination and play! The perfect class for those looking for an introduction to the world of musical theatre as well as those who have already been bitten by the theatre bug!
Youth Jazz/Tap Dance Fundamentals (Grades 3-6)
Saturdays 9:30-10:45 | Aug 22 – Sept 19
A dance class for grades 3-6 where students will learn proper technique to be able to be successful in musical theater. Students will get experience in both musical theatre style dance as well as tap dance to work at being a well rounded performer. For students with 0-1 years of dance and tap experience.
Youth Tap (Intermediate) (Grades 3-6)
Saturdays 11-12 | Aug 22 – Sept 19
A tap class for grades 3-6 where students will build upon existing skills and learn choreography. Students should know and be able to demonstrate basic tap terminology such as flaps, shuffles, time steps, and buffalos. At least 2 years of tap training is recommended for this class.
Youth Dance (Intermediate) (Grades 3-6)
Saturdays 12:15-1:15 | Aug 22 – Sept 19 | Drop In Option
A youth dance class where students will work on improving their dance technique, picking up choreography, and learning different musical theatre dance styles. At least 2 years of dance training is recommended for this class.
Acting Through Song (Youth Edition) (Grades 3-6)
Tuesdays 5-6:30 | Aug 25 – Sept 29
Acting Through Song is a course designed to aid emerging actors by giving them the essential tools for their personal craft. Through this 6 week class students will engage in integrating acting performance through musical theatre literature and telling a fully synthesized story through song. This class will utilize live accompaniment.
Teen Dance (Grades 7-12)
Saturdays 9:30-10:45 | Aug 22 – Sept 19 | Drop In Option
An open level teen dance class where students will work on improving their dance technique, picking up choreography, and learning different musical theatre dance styles. All open level classes are designed to help beginner dancers get the foundation they need while also challenging our more advanced dancers.
Teen Tap (Grades 7-12)
Saturdays 11-12 | Aug 22 – Sept 19
A tap class designed for those looking to begin tap or those that want to brush up on their skills and improve their technique. Designed for both the beginner and intermediate levels.
Adult Dance (Open Level) (Ages 18+)
Sundays 9:30-10:45 | Aug 23 – Oct 25 | Drop In Option
An open level adult dance class where students will work on improving their dance technique, picking up choreography, and learning different musical theatre dance styles. All open level classes are designed to help beginner dancers get the foundation they need while also challenging our more advanced dancers.
Ready, Set, REEL! (Adult Dance) (Ages 18+)
Tuesdays 6:30-8 | Aug 25 – Sept 29
“Ready, Set, Reel” is the place to be for performers wanting to create or expand their dance reel. Throughout the session, you can expect to learn a variety of dynamic choreography in a variety of styles for your dance reel. Choreography will be taught in the first 3 classes, there will be two review days, and on the final day there will be a professional videographer to take footage for reels. All performers will get access to footage to use in their reels. Students can also expect coaching on how to edit and structure dance reels.
