Malgorzata Wieteszka-Slocomb is a Fashion Designer and Couturier with over 25 years of experience working in the apparel industry in New York City and San Diego. Malgorzata was born and raised in Warsaw, Poland. She grew up with strong artistic influences from her close family and friends. She started designing clothes at the age of 7 and made her first creations herself at 10 years old. In 1992, she earned a coveted scholarship from retail legend, Marvin S. Traub (the long-time President of Bloomingdale’s and Federated Department Stores), which enabled her to attend Centenary College in New Jersey.

While studying Apparel and Textile Design at Centenary, Malgorzata started working as a Stage Manager and Associate Costume Designer at Centenary Performing Arts Guild (now Centenary Stage Company) under the direction of long-time Managing and Creative Director, Carl Wallnau III. Malgorzata also worked as an Assistant Director alongside Michael Blevins at Centenary’s Young Performer’s Workshop.

After graduating from Centenary, Malgorzata worked for Broadway Costume Designers EuroCo in Manhattan and many years in the apparel industry in New York (Rousso Apparel, Inc., Three Girls Running, and Castle Hill Apparel). Upon moving to San Diego in 2006, Malgorzata opened her own fashion design studio, Malgorzata Couture, which specializes in made to measure, one of a kind evening gowns. In 2007, she also returned to the world of Theater and Performing Arts by donating her time and talent to design costumes for the winning contestant of the Mama’s Kitchen Charity pageant, Tantrums & Tiaras. Since 2011, Malgorzata has been very involved in the local youth theatre scene in San Diego, dividing her time between her beloved Malgorzata Couture clients and supporting her two talented children on their own exciting performing arts journey.

She has been involved with fundraising, marketing, talent mentoring, set and costume design at CYT, Scripps Performing Arts Academy, St. Michael’s Theatre and PUSD’s Titan Theatre, where she has consulted, designed and costumed several shows throughout the years.
